As we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of  Faith Apostolic Church, let us remember that we are  also in the season of the feast of Pentecost (according to the Jewish calendar).

Pentecost simply means fiftieth.  In the old testament, the feast of Pentecost was a time that was celebrated 50 days after the Passover.

We know that the Passover was when the death angel could not harm the children of Israel because the blood of the lamb was applied to the Israelite’s  doorpost. The death angel passed over them and could not harm them.  How much more powerful is the blood of the spotless lamb, Jesus Christ, that took away our sins?  Our  miraculous God delivered His children,  provided for them and saved  them from the snare if death.

During the time of Pentecost (fiftieth),   Israel gave offerings of  thanks giving and celebrated joyously. It was a time of restitution, a time of remembering when God gave them His word on the Mountain.  Pentecost had been celebrated many years prior to the book of Acts, as a remembrance of when God gave His word in tablet form on  Mount Sinai. However, this was not the only time God gave His Word.  He gave it in Acts, as many were baptized in the Holy Ghost with fire and were endowed with power from on high.  The Word now lives within us.

Symbolically,  in scripture, the number 50 means full, or the  fullness.  You will notice that it wasn’t until the day of Pentecost was fully come that the 120 were filled with the Holy Ghost.

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one   place.          And  suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind,   and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as  of fire  and it sat upon each of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues,  as the Spirit gave them utterance. – Acts 2:1-2 -4

As we celebrate Faith turns 50 we should consider the spiritual significance of our church’s age and the season we are in.  What are some of the things we can expect to be released during this time?

  •  Salvation
  • A great witness of the glory of God
  • Love, strength and power as our brothers and sisters unify seeking God and celebrating all He has done for us. The Word is no longer released on a mountain, but lives in us and we have the endowment of power.
  • Life changing encounters, visitations and outpour of the Holy Ghost (supernatural visitation) that brings empowerment to the saints in a supernatural way
  • A time of refreshing from the presence of the Lord
  • Promises fulfilled (restitution)

Let us offer joyous expectation, celebrating the blessing that God has given during the past 50 years,  and embrace what was released at Pentecost, He paid for it with His blood.  We must also  embrace the blessing and new assignments God desires to release during this 50th Anniversary for our church,  Faith Apostolic.

As we remember the great sacrifices of our Spiritual Father, Bishop Heron Johnson and the saints who stood with  him to pioneer the work of God,  we also embrace the new assignment God has released to our Pastor, Suffg. Bishop Michael and Lady Bender and those who stand by his side to further the gospel and the move of God for this season and generation.   Let us incline our ear to hear what the Spirit says to us for the house of  FAC.

From a natural perspective, 50th Anniversaries are typically noted as the “golden”  years.  In Genesis 2: 11-12, we see that the first mention of gold in  scripture  is in the context of  “good”.  This is a good year.   We learn in 1 Peter 1:7 that the trying of our Faith is more precious than gold.  This is a precious  year, considering the many trials and triumphs of  FAC,   even those things that may come in the future.  We are triumphant.
