April 11 WHEN THE SPIRIT WAS POURED OUT:  THE COMFORT WE HAVE IN THE HOLY GHOST

April 11 WHEN THE SPIRIT WAS POURED OUT:  THE COMFORT WE HAVE IN THE HOLY GHOST

John 14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

The active (verb) meaning of the word comfort is to ease the grief or distress of; console.  Jesus let the disciples know His time on earth was coming to an end, but promised that the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, was being sent by the Father in His name.  Jesus said the Holy Ghost would teach them all things (whatsoever things Jesus said) and this was for their edification and understanding.  Jesus also said the Holy Ghost would bring all things to their remembrance (whatsoever things Jesus said).  It is comforting to know that no matter what we go through, like the disciples, we have the Holy Ghost to teach us or reveal to us what we need to understand, and also to remind us of the exact word we need to remember in our times of suffering.
